"My unusual portraits"
The improbable scene has a touch of underlying surrealism and symbolism. The gazes of the figures are as if suspended, observing their surroundings as much as reversing to question their own interiority. They are placed in settings or landscapes, objects and animals collected in an apparently absurd or even extravagant manner, raising in their own way a few major recurrent existential philosophical themes or more contemporary political ones in which the Woman is the subject of all representations—wife, mother, girl, idol…
This is a series of unusual portraits—large canvases painted only in oil and imbued with the work of the great masters of painting. Here you see a delighted girl whose pre-programmed destiny vacillates after she reads, unexpectedly, a book by Anaïs Nin ("Le balai de la femme en rose"). There, a contemporary avatar of ‘Goddess Mother Hen’, playing nonchalantly with fertility ("Ah si vous connaissiez ma poule"). Elsewhere, a lonely old woman facing absence, the missing part, death ("L’impasse, l’autre reste") and also, against the background of an urban landscape threatened with submersion, a self-portrait of the artist nude, like Eve, facing a young woman wearing a veil, addresses the question freedom of decision for women, their link with a body that is a friend or an enemy and their destiny in different cultures, "La première de nous deux qui rira" ("The First to Laugh…").
